Tα 95α Oscars είναι προ των πυλών. Η τελετή απονομής των βραβείων για την τέχνη του κινηματογράφου προσφέρει σταθερά στιγμές θριάμβου και διαμάχης εδώ και σχεδόν έναν αιώνα πια, και η φετινή χρονιά φαίνεται πως δεν θα διαφέρει.
Πέντε ταινίες είναι δεδομένο ότι θα ακουστούν για την κορυφαία κατηγορία Καλύτερης Ταινίας των Oscars: Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Banshees of Inisherin, Tár, The Fabelmans και Top Gun: Maverick. Το Elvis και το Avatar: The Way of Water φαίνεται πως θα συμπληρώσουν την επτάδα, αν και δεν είναι εγγυημένο. Μένουν τρεις ακόμα θέσεις αλλά εκεί, all bets are off.
Τούτη η κούρσα φαίνεται πως θα είναι από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες των τελευταίων Oscars, όχι τόσο για την ίδια τη συγκομιδή των ταινιών αλλά για το τι θα σημαίνει η τελική επιλογή και η τελική βράβευση για το πού κινείται η Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου αυτή τη στιγμή σε σχέση με την εμπορικότητα των υποψηφίων και το κατά πόσο νιώθουν την ανάγκη (ή/και θέλουν) να την επιβραβεύσουν.
Φέτος ο Riz Ahmed, περσινός νικητής για Καλύτερη Live-Action Μικρού Μήκους με το The Long Goodbye και υποψήφιος άλλοτε για την ερμηνεία του στο The Sound of Metal, και η Allison Williams, πρωταγωνίστρια και παραγωγός του M3GAN, θα ανακοινώσουν τις υποψηφιότητες από το Samuel Goldwyn Theater στο Beverly Hills.
